The troubled teens of New York are the same way. They really think that they can do whatever they want and their parents can't do anything about it. The troubled teens of the State of NY believe that they can do whatever they want, their parents can't interfere, and their parents must pay for their needs (wants and desires). Worse of all, the troubled teens of NY do not believe that anyone, including any authority, and stop or prevent them from doing what they want, when they want it. Any parent from New York that is dealing with a troubled teen will echo the sentiments of this page.
The outcome of the liberal mindset, in the long run, is that troubled teens have ridiculous excuses for their poor choices and ultimately look to the government to provide their needs (with not strings attached... meaning, they believe they are entitled to their outrageous behavior but can't be held accountable and no one, especially their parents, cannot tell them what to do... if they want to drop out of school, smoke pot, sleep around, come home when they want, and demand that their parents pay for their partying then THEY SHOULD!)
When things do not go their way, and they won't, entitled teenagers begin to rebel, blame others, and refuse to take responsibility for their position in life. The liberal mindset has supported the extreme notion of "child's rights", as if by giving children rights they will make better decisions for themselves than their parents would. By giving children "rights" the State must first take away the parent's parental rights.
This has "undone" the culture of the family, the responsibility of the parents, and has essentially given the government the authority of the moral upbrining of the children in NY. What a failed concept that does not seem to have an answer. The good news is that parents in NY can look to RestoringTroubledTeens and find the perfect therapeutic boarding schools located somewhere other than NY.
